Colorful Hanging baskets in the garden
As any regular reader might guess, growing fruits and vegetables and herbs tend to be my forte. Now that we raise honeybees I do my best to add extra bits of color with hanging baskets. Most of these are filled with plants that attract pollinators so I have constant pollination for all of our plants.
Unfortunately, we live in an area nowadays where many people spray for mosquitoes. This can affect the pollinators so we do our best to bring them to our property and then possibly keep them here.
A timely offer
This is why I was so excited to try out these hanging baskets from Emerging Green. Typically they sell for $29 for three which I think is not that bad of a deal! The supply chain issues as of late have made it hard to find planters like these with the coco liners. The offer to try them out came just at the right time!
I typically do my best to fill these as full as possible with flowering plants, and by mid-summer, I have gorgeous hanging flowering plants that the honeybees, bumblebees, and butterflies just love visiting.

As you can see here I have multi-colored petunias. Over the next month will fill in even more and make these baskets really gorgeous. Recently I even found this really neat Chicken themed hanging basket holder. This is the perfect accessory to dress up our rather drab chicken and rabbit yard. I’m hoping to expand a bit more across our property over the years with more of these to add splashes of color with verbena, creeping thyme, oregano, and sweet alyssum.

Hanging baskets that add beauty and beneficial insects
Over time, as I add these, I can imagine it will help us add beneficial insects. This will help us naturally fight our Alaska State bird, the annoying mosquito! It’s a rather satisfying thought. Adding beauty to our yard can ultimately help us grow bigger and tastier fruits and vegetables and help us with pest control!
